Privacy Policy

Cal Traffic is a free, public-data viewer for California traffic conditions. We aim to collect as little personal data as possible.

What we collect directly

Cal Traffic does not require accounts, does not ask for your name or email, and does not run server-side analytics that personally identify you. Your camera favorites and view preferences are stored locally in your browser via localStorage and never leave your device.

Camera images, traffic incidents, chain controls, lane closures, and weather alerts are fetched on your behalf from public California state APIs (Caltrans CWWP2, CHP CAD, NWS) and are not associated with your visit.

Cookies and third-party services

Cal Traffic uses the following third-party services that may place cookies or collect data:

• Google AdSense — serves the advertisements on this site. AdSense and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites. See Google's ads policy.
• Cloudflare — hosts and edge-caches Cal Traffic. Cloudflare may log IP addresses for abuse prevention. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Your choices

You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings or by visiting aboutads.info. You can clear your locally-stored preferences (favorites, theme) at any time by clearing your browser's site data for caltraffic.com.

California residents (CCPA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Because Cal Traffic does not collect personal information directly, these rights largely apply to third-party advertising via Google. Use the Google Ads Settings link above to manage personalization, or email privacy@caltraffic.com with any questions.

European visitors (GDPR)

Visitors from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom will be shown a Google Funding Choices consent dialog before personalized ads are served, in accordance with Google's certified CMP framework.

Changes

We may update this policy as features and services change. The "last updated" date above will reflect the most recent change. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
